Our Story
Our Church was founded in 1885, by the Carol, Daniel, Durden and Mapp families. Rev. A.D. Freeman was given the awesome task to become the first pastor. The land in which the church was first erected was so fair, they decided to name the church, Fairfield.
During the one hundred and thirty-three years of existence in the Redan and Lithonia area as a place of worship, praise and service to God, five other men were called to shepherd this church family: Rev. A.C. Collins, Rev. Zack Brown, Rev. C.L. Nall, Rev. Micheal Benton and Rev. Melvin Brooks. All strong men of God, proclaiming Jesus as Lord.
The church membership has grown over the years. Many have come from all over to make Fairfield their place of fellowship. To accommodate the growth, additional land was purchased and larger facilities were built.
Fairfield stands as a beaconing light in the community. Its lights illuminating the love of Christ, as the church sitting on the hill, that cannot be hidden.
Our Mission
Fairfield Baptist Church shall serve as a shaft to position all people to evangelize the unsaved (Matt. 28: 18-20), edify the saints (Eph. 4:11-15), guard the truth (I Tim. 2: 1-2), and discipline the unruly (II Cor. 13:1-10).
The church shall lead the community by helping its members to meet their diverse needs to fully mature in Christ. Fairfield Baptist Church shall provide opportunities for them to learn, teach, worship, witness for Christ, and to share the love of God both home and abroad.
